“A Night in Story Land” by Birmingham Children’s Theatre

On February 26, 2011, Rosewood Hall will be transformed into a storybook.   This annual fundraising gala utilizes the sets, creativity, talent and costumes of Birmingham Children’s Theatre to recreate childhood favorites like Beauty and the Beast, Rapunzel, the Wizard of Oz and Goldilocks and the Three Bears.   Sets are staged throughout the ballroom but the actors are not bound to a defined corner of the room.  In fact, it is quite the opposite.  Scenes are introduced from the middle of the crowd or across the room as actors draw the crowd (specifically the children) into the story.   Once introduced, the storybook characters remain in the ballroom for dancing and pictures.

Hosted by the Board and Junior Board of Birmingham Children’s Theatre, this annual gala funds their outreach programs for the coming year.    With this funding, BCT reaches over 30,000 children per year!  For those who cannot attend the theatre shows performed at the BJCC, BCT brings the act to them, literally.  Outreach activities include the Week of Free Shows at non-profit organizations throughout the city including the Bell Center, Mitchell’s Place, Children’s Hospital and the YMCA Youth Center.

Enjoy a magical evening with your costumed children and support Birmingham Children’s Theatre’s amazing work.  Tickets are $125 for a family of four or $50 per individual and $15 for children ages 2-18 .  The evening also includes music, food (creatively linked to the stories) and a silent auction.   Underground parking is available for free at Rosewood Hall / SoHo.   Purchase your tickets online.

The pictures of your beaming child with Belle, Rapunzel, Dorothy or the Tin Man will be priceless.
