Over the years the Jefferson County Commission has provided plenty of fodder for water cooler discussions, even beyond Birmingham. The county sewer system crisis and the specter of a municipality declaring bankruptcy has made national headlines.
Recently I was on the Jefferson County Commission website looking for definitive information on the Jefferson County Occupational tax, which has see-sawed for years between being required of all employees and being deemed unconstitutional (currently the dial is stuck on the latter option).
My initial search for details yielded no results, but note the first suggestion (at left).
Double take! You gotta love the irony.
