It seems natural to want to do something to mark the significance of 9/11 in our lives, especially approaching the 10th anniversary. Hands On Birmingham has coordinated several opportunities for you to join others in service to the community.
Projects range from sprucing up a playground to sorting donations (aren’t we moms always in fine form for sorting?). Projects are scheduled through September 11, 2011.
In addition,Hands On Birmingham will be hosting a screening of ”New York Says Thank You” at the McWane Science Center on Sunday, 9/11/11, at 3 p.m. This is a film that illustrates the difference that service made following 9/11. Admission is free but registration is required due to limited space.
Whatever your emotion when remembering 9/11 – grief, anger, national pride – you can channel that energy into a positive force and have something to show for it.
