Author Day at Hoover Library – Meet the Minds Behind Summer Reads

Don’t you wonder sometimes about the people who create the worlds that carry us away in books, inviting our minds into entire worlds that came into being from their own imaginations?

Hoover Public Library is giving us an author showcase this Saturday, July 28, from 10:30 to 3 p.m. in their wonderful Plaza area. Five authors will be be sharing their thoughts and answering questions, with book signings to follow in the latter part of the program. One author, Gin Phillips, is a Birmingham mom whose books, The Well and the Mine and Come In and Cover Me have been recognized by the editors of O Magazine as reading picks. (While O Magazine’s editors can recognize a good read, I contend that we in central Alabama can particularly appreciate Phillips taking us back to our state’s big mining days in The Well and the Mine).

Grab lunch at Coffeeology while you are there and get to know some of the authors who can whisk us away to a whole different place and time.
