Spring Break is fast approaching AND (thanks to our elected officials) many of our schools are on different calendars this year. Thanks to the many children’s organizations who stepped up and will provide two camps this year! Here is your shortcut to the best Spring Break options.
Here are the more obvious options:
McWane Science Center – Offering day camp for ages 4K through 6th grade the week of March 18th – 22nd. For more information visit their Spring Break Camp page.
Birmingham Zoo – Offering day camp the week of March 18th-22nd for ages 4k-5th grades. Camp schedule is 8:30am until 3:30 pm (early and late care available). Register for one day or the whole week which provides nice flexibility. Download their School Break Camp brochure for additional information.
YMCA – Locations throughout the city are offering Spring Break Camps the week of March 18th and March 25th depending on the location. These camps provide consistent care and the most reasonable cost with an obvious focus on fitness. Birmingham Children’s Theatre Spring Break Intensive – March 18th – 22nd, classes for pre-k through 8th grade. Check the schedule and register here. Registration Deadline March 4th.
Camps you might not know about yet:
Acting Out Academy Movie Camp – Located in Vestavia, Acting Out Academy will have kid’s acting coach Darcy Martin for two weeks of film making magic. Dates/Times: March 18th-22nd & March 25th-29th from 9:30am to 4pm (early and late childcare available). Click here for more info.
Do It Yourself Crafts – DIYC will hold classes from 1pm-3pm each afternoon during Spring Break
(March 18th-22nd). Exciting crafts include the following: Monster Plate and Mug, Clay crosses, Peace, Love and Glass Fusing, Easter Egg Decorating; Make a fun bowl perfect for popcorn or another treat using caps to decorate. Cost is $30 per class with a $5 discount for siblings or multiple classes. Register by calling 205-868-4346.
Ruffner Mountain Nature Preserve – Offering Spring Break Camp the week of March 18th from 9am – 3pm (early/late childcare available). Ruffner offers kids the chance to explore science and nature in a hands-on, active way. For parents, Ruffner allows you to choose one day or all week at the most reasonable rate in town ($40/day for non-members;$30 for members). Kids love it. Click here for additional information.
Girls Inc. – Located in Crestwood, Girls Inc. is offering full day camp (7am-6pm) for girls with a focus on science, sports, writing and art. The cost is $100 for non-members and $75 for members. Registrations required. Contact El’Vira Parks at 599-5555 for additional information.
