New Summer Event: TBT Kids Club at the Alabama

A new summer event (and soon to be tradition!) begins tomorrow at the Alabama Theatre!

Throwback Thursday Kids Club (TBTKC) begins tomorrow at 9am and will continue for the next 3 Thursdays in July.  TBTKC includes four classic family movies:

  • The Original Muppet Movie (July 10)
  • Return to Witch Mountain (July 17)
  • Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (July 24)
  • Bedknobs & Broomsticks (July 31)

Doors will open at 9 a.m. and the movie begins at 10 a.m.

Before each movie, TBTKC audiences will enjoy live entertainment from clowns, jugglers, acrobats and other performers, plus cartoons and a brief concert from the Mighty Wurlitzer. Parents will have access to free parking and will receive discounts to the McWane Science Center, located right next door to the Alabama Theatre. (McWane Center members who purchase one adult ticket will receive one child’s ticket free.) Tickets cost $5 for adults and $2 for children (must be accompanied by an adult).  For details, call 205-252-2262 or visit

Watching a movie at the Alabama Theatre is a Birmingham tradition that goes back generations.  We’ll see you downtown tomorrow at the Alabama!

Sponsors of the Throwback Thursday Kids Club include the Alabama Theatre, Backyard Movie Parties, CW21, 99.5 The Vibe,, Continental Bakery Downtown, McWane Science Center and The Egg & I Vestavia.
